Vote, Mayor Racquel Vasquez for the 79th Assembly District!

Dear Neighbors,

I’ve been a dedicated public servant for nearly two decades with a proven track record of developing working relationships throughout our region and delivering results. Working with representatives throughout San Diego County and at the state and federal levels, we have crafted and implemented pragmatic, real, and common-sense solutions to the challenges that we face every day.

I’m the ideal candidate and the only candidate on the ballot to have executive leadership as a mayor serving in my second term for the city of Lemon Grove by

  • Fiscally managing an Annual Budget averaging $18 million per year while improving streets and ensuring funding to ensure equitable services for all residents, constructing the first community garden in Lemon Grove and creating the first-of-its-kind gift card stimulus program to support local small businesses to stimulate the economy.

  • Helping to humanly and regionally address homelessness, securing a partnership with East County cities to jointly develop practical and innovative programs and policies that reduce homelessness and improve housing availability and affordability.

  • In collaboration with the Lemon Grove School District, opening the city’s Recreation Center to provide computer and internet access for students before and after school.

  • Created policies to improve the health of residents by increasing the walkability throughout each neighborhood, revitalizing parks, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by securing new vehicles and equipment and adopting policies that promote greener and cleaner environments.

We need someone who will deliver results for all of us in Sacramento, and I urge you to pledge your support and vote for me, Racquel Vasquez. Discover my priorities below and let's forge a better future together!.

Mayor Racquel Vasquez

Racquel’s Priorities

  • I am dedicated to enhancing the safety of our neighborhoods by advocating for state resources and funding for the 79th Assembly District, which includes La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Bonita, El Cajon, La Presa, Spring Valley, and San Diego. Together, we will strengthen the security and well-being of our communities.

  • Reviving our local economy is a top priority. I'm determined to achieve this by advocating for state policies that maintain a balanced budget, drive fiscal stimulus programs, promote innovation, combat inflation, and strengthen our local economy. With a seat on the Executive Board of the League of California Cities and the San Diego Association of Governments, I've championed transparency and accountability in governance, and I will continue to do so at Sacramento.

  • Shortages of affordable housing are a national issue and more so throughout San Diego County. During my time as Mayor, I strongly advocated for affordable housing, resulting in Lemon Grove becoming the only city in San Diego County to meet California's rigorous state mandates for affordable housing. At the State Assembly, I will champion legislation that promotes housing production, preservation and affordability.

  • Tackling homelessness requires collaboration with local non-profits and regional approaches to connect people to housing and services quickly. I will support programs and policies that will provide comprehensive services for mental health and substance use disorders. Together, we can make significant strides in addressing these pressing issues.
